just played the demo!  I wrote a mini review over on fedi but just wanted to say I’m super excited for whenever the final game comes out.  Great work!

Aah, thank you so incredibly much!

The demo is indeed a stripped-down version that showcases the core mechanics, sounds/music, our main characters and the game’s artstyle, and in the full game there’s so much more to discover in all these aspects.

If you enjoyed this, you’ll love the final game (it’s really freaking cool, haha). Can’t wait for you to play it! :-)

awesome can’t wait! Looking forward to doing a write up on my blog about the final game :D

I tested through the demo, here's my initial feedback:

Movement of the ship is very smooth, hit box is definitely fair.  This game reminds me of a mix of various 80s games like Silpheed, Bosconian, Xevious, etc.  Great art, it drew me in from the initial screenshot.  Love the little dialogs between chapters.  Will this waffle maker get a spin off game?

I'm assuming that since this is a demo it doesn't have all of the features fully flushed out, since I didn't see anything that would be typical for this type of game like score, power-ups, lives, etc.

The only "issue" I think I found was in one of the early dialogs, there is the phrase "can not" which probably should be "cannot".

This is a great start and love seeing the types of games being made for the Playdate.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such amazing and detailed feedback! It means the world galaxy to us.

Funnily enough, you’re the second person to point out the issue with cannot vs can not, and as non-native English speakers this is really funny to us. ‘Can not’ feels like the correct choice but English is a wild language and we’re super happy you pointed out the mistake! It’ll definitely be corrected for the final version of the game (which will, indeed, also include more features than the stripped-down demo version).

Again, thank you so much for the compliments and for trying out the demo! :-)

Tried the demo!

There's a small bug: when A is pressed during the death it doesn't fire on new spawn. Easy to recreate, just hold the A all the time and die, and you'll see.

But also, is there a reason not to fire all the time? Will there be the levels where you have to be careful when you shoot and when you not? If no - I'd recommend just auto-fire without pressing any buttons.

Good luck!

Thanks for catching that bug! As for auto-fire, there might indeed be some later levels where you want to shoot a bit more carefully, but we’ll include a toggle mode for the A button in the final release :)

Just tried the demo - it plays awesome! The fighting is very satisfying, cool enemies and I like that there are dialogs going on. Music and sounds are superb, graphics are great as well. Very much looking forward to see the final game!
